What we use.

We keep coming back to the same small group of ingredients. Not because they are fashionable or sound impressive, but because each one brings something useful to the balm.

They help us make skincare that feels rich, simple and easy to use in everyday family life—whether it is a little dry patch after bath time or a quiet moment of care at the end of the day.

Beef tallow

INCI: Tallow

Tallow is the rich base at the heart of our balms. It gives them their comforting texture and leaves a soft layer on the skin that helps slow down moisture loss.

We like it because a little goes a long way. Warm a small amount between your fingertips and it melts into something easy to spread over dry-feeling areas. It works just as naturally in a busy family routine as it does in a slower evening one.

Jojoba oil

INCI: Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil

Despite its name, jojoba oil is actually a liquid wax. We use it to soften the feel of the tallow and help the balm glide across the skin without feeling unnecessarily heavy.

It is a wonderfully practical ingredient: light, stable and easy to work into everyday skincare. For us, it helps strike the balance between rich care and a balm the whole family can use comfortably.

Beeswax

INCI: Cera Alba

Beeswax gives our balms their shape and stops them turning into a pot of oil. More importantly, it creates a light, protective layer that helps keep moisture from escaping too quickly.

That makes it especially useful on hands, elbows, knees and other areas that can feel dry after washing, weather or the general rough and tumble of family life.

Vitamin E

INCI: Tocopherol

Vitamin E plays two quiet roles in our formulas. It conditions the skin, and its antioxidant properties help protect the oils in the jar from oxidising too quickly.

It is not there to make dramatic promises. It is simply a thoughtful supporting ingredient that helps us make a well-balanced balm and look after the ingredients around it.

Rosehip oil

INCI: Rosa Canina Fruit Oil

Rosehip is a lighter plant oil, naturally containing a mixture of fatty acids. It brings a softer, more fluid finish to a balm and leaves the skin feeling conditioned rather than coated.

We use it where we want the formula to feel a little more special and nurturing, while still keeping the routine straightforward: warm a little, smooth it on and let it settle.

Made for family life.

An ingredient can tell you part of the story, but it is the finished formula that matters. Every ALFEO product has its own complete ingredient list, directions and suitability information on the product page and packaging.

Skin is personal, especially when you are choosing something for a child. Follow the label, patch test where directed and speak to a healthcare professional if you are concerned about an ongoing skin condition.
